Nature and Architecture
An encounter in a breath-taking and singular journey.
The second edition of “CidneOn – Festival Internazionale delle Luci” has investigated the relationship between space in nature and in man-made spaces in the charming setting of Brescia Castle.
There is evidence here that goes back to the Bronze Age. With the arrival of the Celts between IX and VIII century BC a temple dedicated to the God of Nature, Bergimus, arose on the hill, later substituted by Nume Tutelare of the Roman colony and by a temple dedicated to Ercole, mythical founder of the city.
The work done in the Viscontean era and, above all, the imposing restoration work promoted by the Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia gave the present contour of a military fortress, softened by the rich vegetation.
The installations and the projections of light art have been inspired by the singular “natural architecture” of the castle to extend the horizon of the imagination thanks to the creativity of the artists involved, linking history, nature and fantasy.
